Islamic Economics Masters Student Wins 2nd Best Paper at the 6th ICONZ

Another proud achievement was made by students of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Two students of S2 Islamic Economics Faculty of Economics and Business UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta won the 2nd Best Paper Awards at the 6th Indonesian Conference of Zakat (ICONZ). ICONZ is an annual conference activity organized by the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS). In 2022, this ICONZ activity which has entered its sixth year will be held at UIN Walisongo Semarang.

The students who won the 2nd Best Paper Awards were Nur Adibah and Maylina Syarifah Rahmah. The title of the paper presented was The Impact of Human Development Index and Information and Communication Technology Development Index on the Growth Rate of Digital Based Zakat. These two students are under the guidance of Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D.

Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nur Rianto Al Arif, M.Si congratulated the achievements of the two students. Acknowledgments also go to the supervisor Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D who has allocated his time to mentor students from the Islamic Economics Masters program. Dr. Nofrianto, M.Ag as Head of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program said that this achievement shows that even though the Islamic Economics Masters study program is still new, the quality of its students is beyond doubt. Apart from these two students, there were also several other student groups participating in the 6th ICONZ.

Wednesday, November 23, 2022 The Islamic Economics Masters Study Program (MES) FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held an Islamic Economics and Finance Study Session 1. This activity was held in collaboration with FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and the Association of Indonesian Islamic Economists (IAEI) Commissariat of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The implementation of this activity was carried out in a hybrid manner, which was moderated by Dr. Mohammad Lutfi, M.M as a lecturer at FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

This activity was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Amylin, M.Sc., Ak. In his remarks, he appreciated the committee that had initiated the implementation of this Sharia Economic and Financial Study. It is hoped that activities like this can be carried out on an ongoing basis which will be filled in by several speakers from both internal and external FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Chairman of the IAEI Commissariat of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nur Rianto Al Arif, M.Si welcomed this activity as an effort to increase Islamic economic and financial literacy in Indonesia.

The presentation of the material this time was delivered by Dr. Atmo Prawiro, SH.I, M.E.Sy. He is a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta who is also the BBSPJIKFK Sharia Expert at the Ministry of Industry. On this occasion, the resource person explained the critical point of the production process in the company in terms of whether a product is halal or haram. This activity ended with an interesting discussion between the resource person and the participants.

Workshop on Islamic Economics Masters Study Program: Experiments as an Alternative Method in Collecting Islamic Economic Research Data

Thursday, 10 November 2022 the Master of Islamic Economics study program held a workshop to improve the research abilities of students and lecturers in the field of Islamic economics and finance. The material that will be given at the workshop this time is the Experimental Method. The resource person for this activity was Dr. Hariman Bone, M.Sc., Ak from Mulawarman University. This activity was moderated by Fitri Yani Jali, M.Sc (Secretary of the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program). This workshop activity collaborated with the DPP of the Indonesian Lecturers Association (ADI) and the DPW of the Association of Islamic Economics Experts (IAEI) DKI Jakarta.

This activity was opened with remarks by the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nur Rianto Al Arif, M.Sc who is also the Secretary General of the DPP of the Indonesian Lecturers Association and Chair IV of the IAEI DKI Jakarta DPW. In his remarks, he said that there is still very limited research on Islamic economics and finance using experimental methods.

Dr. Hariman Bone, M.Sc., Ak explained systematically about this experimental method starting from how to collect data to processing it. In addition, several examples of topics that can be used as experimental research are also given. Therefore, today’s topic will be very useful in improving the quality of research in the study of Islamic economics and finance.
