Academic Writing Workshop: How to Find Research Gap and Novelty
Wednesday, July 13, 2022, the Faculty of Economics and Business held an Academic Writing Workshop. The theme raised in this activity is how to find research gaps and novelty. The resource persons for this activity were Rahmatina A. Kasri, Ph.D (Chair of IAEI Jakarta Chapter and Head of PEBS FEB UI). This activity was moderated by Fitri Yani Jalil, M.Sc. This activity began with remarks by Prof. Dr. Amilin, S.E., Ak, M.Si as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He welcomed the activities held by the Islamic Economics Masters Study Program. This activity is an effort to improve academic quality in the sharia economics master program. The theme of this activity is very interesting, because the biggest difficulty for writers, especially novice writers, is finding research gaps and novelty. In her presentation, she said that the research gap must be able to show the difference between the research we are doing and previous research. Then, novelty must be able to show the innovation and contribution of the research we are doing. Both of these must be clearly indicated in a scientific article. This activity was held in collaboration with the sharia economics master program with the IAEI Jakarta Chapter. This activity is an effort to improve the quality of research and scientific publications, especially related to Islamic economics and finance in Indonesia.
