Development Economics Study Program Supports “Green Campus” Through Reduction in Paper Use

Jakarta, September 3, 2025 – The Development Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially launched the “Green Campus” initiative by implementing a policy to reduce paper use in all examination activities. This program aims to reduce carbon footprints and encourage more sustainable practices on campus.
Starting today, September 3, 2025, all exams in the Development Economics Study Program will be conducted without the use of physical paper. This step is a concrete commitment from the faculty to support environmental conservation. “This is an effort by the development economics study program to contribute significantly to the UIN's green campus mission by reducing paper use in every exam,” said the Head of the Development Economics Study Program, Arief Fitrijanto.
In addition to the main benefit of environmental conservation, the implementation of this program also has other positive impacts. One of them is significant time efficiency in the administrative process. With no physical exam files, the process of scanning exam results for digital data storage is no longer necessary. This allows administrative staff to work faster and focus on other important tasks.

“The ‘Green Campus’ initiative is not only about the environment, but also about efficiency and innovation. We are proud to be at the forefront of promoting this positive change,” said Dr. Sofyan Rizal, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
This program is expected to serve as a model for other academic programs and faculties to adopt similar practices, creating an academic environment that is not only academically excellent but also ecologically responsible. (AC)
