Dialogue on Sharia Economics Concentration: A Complete Analysis of ZISWAF, Capital Markets, and Sharia Development Economics
Jakarta, October 31, 2024 – The Sharia Economics Study Program Student Association (HMPS) in collaboration with the Sharia Economics Study Program of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a Concentration Dialogue with the theme “A Complete Discussion of ZISWAF, Capital Markets, and Sharia Development Economics Concentrations.” This offline activity aims to provide in-depth insight to students, especially fifth-semester students who will soon determine a study concentration that suits their interests and career goals.
This Concentration Dialogue was attended by 90 Sharia Economics students, most of whom were fifth-semester students who will choose a concentration in the coming semester. The Chairperson of the Sharia Economics HMPS, Mahira Fikriya, in her remarks stated that this event aims to be an important reference for students in determining the right choice of concentration. "We hope that this event can be a guide for fellow students to better understand the available choices and be able to consider them carefully," she said.
Secretary of the Sharia Economics Study Program, Dr. Mohammad Lutfi, M.M., also expressed his appreciation for the holding of this Concentration Dialogue as part of the routine program of the Sharia Economics Study Program. According to him, this activity is very positive to avoid mistakes in choosing a concentration and provide a comprehensive understanding of each available option, especially regarding the scope of study and its influence on the selection of thesis titles in the future.
This Concentration Dialogue presented two expert speakers, namely Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Ph.D., who is a lecturer in the ZISWAF concentration and Director of Puskas Baznas RI, and RR. Tini Anggraeni, S.T., M.Sc., who discussed the Capital Market and Sharia Development Economics concentrations.
As the first speaker, Dr. Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal provided in-depth insight into zakat opportunities in Indonesia and the importance of effective ZISWAF management. He explained how the rapidly growing zakat sector in Indonesia creates various career opportunities for graduates who study this field, as well as the importance of understanding zakat management in the socio-economic development of the community.
Furthermore, RR. Tini Anggraeni, S.T., M.Sc., explained two other concentrations, namely Sharia Capital Markets and Sharia Development Economics. In the Sharia Capital Markets concentration session, Ms. Tini explained the urgency of capital markets in today's economic world, especially in the sharia economic sector, as well as the various instruments that students who want to pursue a career in this field need to master. She also detailed the courses included in the Sharia Capital Markets concentration as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this concentration.
In the discussion section of the Sharia Development Economics concentration, Tini outlined the career opportunities, scope, and courses that are the basis for this concentration. According to her, Sharia Development Economics offers a deep understanding of sustainable economic development in accordance with sharia principles, including the concept of community welfare and social justice which are part of the grand vision of Islamic economics.
With the holding of this Concentration Dialogue, it is hoped that students will be able to get to know more about the three concentrations offered by the Sharia Economics Study Program and can make the right decisions according to their interests and career goals. This activity is expected to be the first step for students to plan their academic and professional future without worry and with full confidence.
