Enhancing Student Competence, Development Economics Study Program Holds Health Efficiency Measurement Practical Class Using WinDEAP
JAKARTA, NOVEMBER 3, 2026 — The Health Economics concentration course for 5th-semester students of the Development Economics Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, lectured by Dr. Fitri Amalia, M.Si., held a practical class at the FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Computer Laboratory. The session was titled "Measuring Health Efficiency Using WinDEAP."
The activity, which began at 13.00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), was designed to ensure that students not only master health economics theory but are also capable of applying quantitative software to measure efficiency in the health sector with precision.
Serving as the presenter, Ratna Wulandari, a 7th-semester student, opened the session by providing a brief introduction to the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. In her presentation, she outlined the basic concepts of DEA, the mapping of relevant sectors to be measured, and a review of the advantages and disadvantages of the analytical method.
Furthermore, Ratna explained the fundamental rules of data processing using this approach. It was noted that the minimum requirement for DEA data processing entails at least three data observations, with a composition of two input variables and one output variable, or vice versa. Additionally, a measured unit is considered efficient if its value reaches an absolute score of one.
Following the brief presentation, the activity proceeded with practical data processing using WinDEAP software. In this session, students were guided to conduct a direct data processing simulation utilizing real case studies on health data efficiency analysis in Banten Province, which was subsequently followed by an analysis of health efficiency data across ASEAN countries.
The practical session ran interactively. Students showed great enthusiasm in carrying out the data input process, running the program, and discussing the interpretation of the output generated by the software.
This class meeting is part of a series of in-depth sessions for the Health Economics course. Previously, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, an online session via Teams was held with Karima, S.E., which specifically examined the topic of "Health Financing Using IFLS Data."
Through this series of Health Economics class activities, students are expected to comprehend and apply the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method both theoretically and practically.
