Friday Pulpit: Prof. Rodoni Advises Strengthening Islamic Brotherhood

Friday, October 17, 2025. This week's Friday prayer at the FEB Mosque featured Prof. Dr. Rodoni, MM as the khatib and Dr. Sofyan Rizal, MM as the imam. The theme of this week's sermon was Strengthening Islamic Brotherhood. "One of the great missions that Prophet Muhammad SAW always carried throughout his preaching was the teaching to uphold brotherhood. The concept of brotherhood here is not only brotherhood in a narrow sense, such as brotherhood based on kinship or family ties, but also brotherhood in a global or universal sense, namely brotherhood based on factors of religion, nation, and humanity. He did not only bring this teaching of brotherhood after he was appointed as a Prophet and Messenger at the age of 40, but even long before that, precisely during his childhood and adolescence, the Prophet Muhammad had already taught the spirit of brotherhood through his behavior and daily life," said the Professor of Management.

Take, for example, the story of when he was staying at his uncle Abu Talib's house after his mother and grandfather passed away. Based on existing historical literature, it is reported that not a single member of his uncle's family was ever hurt, let alone offended, during his stay at their house. When eating with his uncle's children, the Prophet never took portions that were not his and never spoke inappropriately in front of them. This is what made his cousins and all members of Abu Talib's family love and cherish him so much, even Abu Talib himself loved the Prophet Muhammad more than his own children. “A truly amazing practice of brotherhood,” he continued.

At the end of his sermon, Prof. Rodoni advised that those who realize the virtue or importance of brotherhood will receive blessings from that brotherhood itself. Conversely, those who neglect the importance of maintaining brotherhood will bring evil into their lives. Close brotherhood will bring harmony within the family, strong brotherhood will create solid social harmony among neighbors (RT) and residents (RW). Strong brotherhood will bring unity and integrity to the nation. Likewise, strong Islamic brotherhood will bring civilization and progress to Muslims around the world. (AC)
