Friday Wisdom, Ustad Fadhil: Happy and Grateful to be Destined to be Followers of the Prophet Muhammad
Jakarta, October 3, 2025 Today's Friday prayer at the FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Mosque was filled with material about gratitude and happiness as followers of the Prophet Muhammad. This was conveyed by the Friday preacher, Ustadz Fadhil, who is also a lecturer and Secretary of the Master of Sharia Economics Study Program at FEB UIN Jakarta.
In his sermon, Ustadz Fadhil quoted a verse from Imam al-Bushri's Burdah, which translates to: “How could Prophet Muhammad be interested in the world, for without him, the world would never have existed.” Not only that, Prophet Muhammad is the most noble and greatest prophet, surpassing other prophets, thus necessitating that we also become a community that is more noble than the communities of other prophets. This is also emphasized by Imam al-Bushiri in his Burdah: “When Allah called our prophet because of his obedience to Allah with the title of the most noble messenger, then we became the most noble people too,” added Ustadz Fadhil.
Surah Ali Imran verse 110 means, “You (Muslims) are the best community that has been raised up for mankind, (because you) enjoin what is good, forbid what is evil, and believe in Allah.” At the end of his sermon, Ustadz Fadhil urged the congregation to be grateful and joyful for being destined by Allah SWT to be the ummah of Prophet Muhammad SAW with all its virtues.
