HMPS Development Economics UIN Jakarta Holds Company Visit to Bank Indonesia, Strengthening Students' Understanding of Central Banking
Jakarta, September 22, 2026 — The Development Economics Student Association (HMPS EP), together with Development Economics students of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, held a Company Visit to Bank Indonesia's Head Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/22/2026). The activity is one of HMPS EP's efforts to give development economics students direct learning experience by introducing them to the role and functions of Bank Indonesia as the central bank of the Republic of Indonesia.
Under the theme "Building Insight into Central Banking and Non-Cash Payment Systems in the Era of the Digital Economy," the activity was designed to broaden students' understanding of economic policy, central banking, payment systems, and the development of economic digitalization in Indonesia. It also provided a space for students to connect the knowledge gained in the classroom with its application in a professional setting.

The program began in the morning with preparation and participant registration. The group of students then traveled to Bank Indonesia's Head Office, located at Jalan M.H. Thamrin No. 2, Gambir, Central Jakarta. After completing registration, the event opened with an opening ceremony, a prayer, and remarks from the Head of the Development Economics Study Program at UIN Jakarta.
As part of the early program, a plaque was presented and a group photo was taken with HMPS Development Economics UIN Jakarta and Bank Indonesia. The event continued with a pre-test game, which formed part of the educational program for participants.

Moving into the main session, students received a presentation on central banking and the institutional transformation of Bank Indonesia. The material outlined Bank Indonesia's duties, functions, and role in maintaining monetary stability, the payment system, and national financial system stability.
In addition to the central banking material, participants also received an elective session delivered by Bank Indonesia. It introduced the development of payment systems in Indonesia amid the ongoing digital economic transformation, including various non-cash payment infrastructures and instruments.
Students' enthusiasm was evident during the Question and Answer (Q&A) session. Participants were given the opportunity to discuss and pose questions to Bank Indonesia's speakers. This session was an important part of the event, as students gained a deeper understanding through direct interaction with Bank Indonesia.
The educational program then continued with a post-test and games. Afterward, Bank Indonesia announced the participants who received awards in the Best Post + Games category. The event was then closed by the MC, followed by the distribution of lunch and the QRIS Experience, which gave students hands-on familiarity with using non-cash payment systems.
After all activities at Bank Indonesia were completed, the students took a group photo in the Lobby B area. The group then continued with ISHOMA (rest, prayer, and meal break) and a trip to Kota Tua, before preparing to return to UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
This Company Visit is expected to provide broader academic experience for Development Economics students at UIN Jakarta. Beyond understanding central banking concepts theoretically, students also gained a picture of how economic policy is implemented and how payment systems are developing in practice.
Through this activity, HMPS Development Economics UIN Jakarta continues to encourage student activities that integrate academic learning with professional experience. In this way, students are expected to enhance their insight, economic and financial literacy, and competencies relevant to economic developments in the digital era.(ep)
