HMPS Management Successfully Holds Seminar on the Role of Generation Z in Promoting MSMEs as a Pillar of National Recovery

A seminar on management titled “The Role of Generation Z in Promoting MSMEs as a Pillar of National Recovery” was held by HMPS Management on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Faculty of Economics and Business, attended by first- and third-semester students of the management study program.

The event featured a keynote speaker, Mr. Ahmad Ridha Sabana, MBA, M.Sc, PhD, as the President's Special Envoy for MSMEs, Creative Economy, and Digital Economy. He provided an in-depth perspective on how the younger generation, especially Generation Z, has a strategic role in strengthening the MSME sector.

In his presentation, Ahmad Ridha emphasized that MSMEs are the foundation of the national economy, which has proven to be resilient in the face of crises, including the pandemic. However, the challenges of digital transformation and global competitiveness require the active involvement of the younger generation. According to him, Generation Z has unique characteristics such as being adaptive, creative, and tech-savvy, which enables them to drive innovation and expand the reach of SMEs through the use of social media, e-commerce, and other digital platforms. “SMEs are the main foundation of the national economy, which has proven to be resilient in facing economic crises and the recent COVID-19 pandemic,” said Ahmad Ridha.

The Head of the Management Study Program, Murdiyah Hayati, conveyed the importance of Gen Z in Indonesia's economic growth. “As Gen Z, students must play an important role in Indonesia's economy. As a generation that is tech-savvy, they will certainly accelerate the growth of MSMEs,” Hayati added.

With the holding of this Management Talking About SMEs event, it is hoped that Generation Z will not only be consumers but also drivers ensuring that SMEs remain the main pillar of Indonesia's economic recovery and growth. (AC)
