Islamic Economics Program Hosts International Guest Lecture on Modern Research Techniques
December 21, 2023, the Islamic Economics study program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta hosted an International Guest Lecture featuring Dr. Olatunji Abdul Shobande, a Senior Research Fellow from Teesside University, UK. The lecture, which formed part of the Seminar Penelitian Ekonomi Pembangunan Syariah course, explored the theme Research in the New Age, offering insights into how researchers can navigate the overwhelming abundance of information in today’s digital world and leverage emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their research efficiency.
Dr. Olatunji, known for his extensive expertise in contemporary research methodologies, provided valuable tips on identifying research gaps. He emphasized the importance of staying updated with current global phenomena and linking these developments to relevant, cutting-edge academic studies. His approach underscored the need for scholars to critically engage with the latest information while utilizing advanced tools such as AI to streamline data analysis, literature review, and gap identification.
The event was designed as an integral session of the Seminar Penelitian Ekonomi Pembangunan Syariah course, taught by Ali Rama, PhD, who also serves as the Head of the Islamic Economics study program. According to Dr. Ali Rama, inviting international scholars like Dr. Olatunji is part of the program’s ongoing efforts to enhance internationalization and expose students to diverse global perspectives. He stressed that such initiatives provide students with invaluable experiences, allowing them to learn directly from international experts, which broadens their understanding of economic research and global trends.
