Jakarta, December 10, 2025. The 9th International Conference on Zakat (ICONZ) was officially opened by the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, MA, at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. ICONZ will run for 3 days, from December 9 to 11, 2025, with the theme: “Zakat and Philanthropy: Beyond Technology Designing a Global Transform for Humanity and Shared Prosperity”.
In his speech, the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Prof. Nasaruddin, advised optimizing the use of productive waqf. "The potential funds from Indonesian Muslims reach 1200 trillion. Therefore, for those who have sufficient funds, do not keep them in the bank for too long, but use them for productive endowments and Sharia mutual funds also zakah for the welfare of the community," said Prof. Nasar, accompanied by the Rector and the leadership of UIN Jakarta.
Dean of FEB Prof. Dr. Ibnu Qizam, M.Si expressed his gratitude to all parties who had helped organize ICONZ at UIN Jakarta. “We greatly appreciate and thank BAZNAS RI for its trust in FEB UIN Jakarta, Tazkia University, Paramadina University, KNEKS, INDEF, IAEI, and various other partners who have helped make the 9th ICONZ a success. Hopefully, this forum will become a strategic forum for formulating the direction of global Islamic zakat and philanthropy development,” said Prof. Qizam.

The ICONZ event was attended by hundreds of article presenters from 15 countries, which began on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, and will continue with various public lectures with speakers from within and outside the country. (AC)
