Ciputat, June 14, 2024 - The Management Study Program of the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta successfully held a guest lecture entitled "Project Finance and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP)", with Iqbal Reza Fahlurrahman, Project Management Specialist at the Islamic Development Bank as the resource person. The event, which was held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Miring Theater Room, New FEB Building, was attended by students and lecturers of FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
The event was opened with remarks from the Head of the Management Study Program, Mrs. Murdiyah Hayati. She conveyed the importance of this event in increasing students' practical insight that is not always obtained in the classroom. The remarks were continued by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Mr. Zuhairan, who gave an introduction to the topic of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and emphasized the importance of research in this field.
After a group photo session and the presentation of certificates to the speakers, Iqbal Reza Fahlurrahman began his presentation. He discussed Project Finance, a financing method where cash flow from the project is the main source of payment, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP), a model of cooperation between the private sector and the government that aims to increase efficiency and innovation in infrastructure provision. Iqbal explained that in Project Finance, project risk can be separated from personal or corporate assets through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). PPP models, such as BOT, BOO, and DBFO, involve sharing responsibilities and risks through well-structured contracts.
The event was also enlivened by an interactive question and answer session, where Kayla Nur Shabrina, a student concentrating in financial management, asked about the potential for reducing toll road rates in the future. Iqbal explained that rates are determined based on feasibility calculations and concessions that usually last between 20-40 years. Followed by five other students who also asked questions and discussed directly with the speakers.
In the closing session, Mrs. Murdiyah Hayati gave high appreciation to the speakers and all participants who actively participated. She emphasized the importance of utilizing knowledge from practitioners and hoped that the insights gained could be applied in students' academic and professional lives.
The event was closed with the awarding of prizes to the best questioner, Kayla Nur Shabrina, and two other questioners, Nafa Meila and Ki Agus, as a form of appreciation for their participation. Not to forget, the awarding of souvenirs from Mrs. Murdiyah to the speakers for their willingness to be speakers in this guest lecturer activity. Dr. Titi Dewi Warninda, as the moderator, closed the seminar with thanks to the speakers and all participants.
This guest lecture event provided new insights into project financing and government-private cooperation, as well as strengthening the relationship between students and professionals in the field of management. Great hopes were expressed that the knowledge shared would bring benefits and inspire participants to continue learning and working for the progress of the nation.
