Practitioners Teach Sharia Economics Study Program, Present AFSI Executive Director

Jakarta, November 19, 2025. The Sharia Economics Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, held a Practitioner Teaching event. This time, the guest speaker was the Executive Director of the Indonesian Sharia Fintech Association (AFSI), Mahaning Riyana. The event, which was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sofyan Rizal, M.Si, was held online with students participating in the event.

In his speech, Sofyan Rizal said that technological developments in the financial and banking industries are currently progressing rapidly. “In the world of finance and banking, information technology is developing rapidly and has a tremendous impact on the performance of financial institutions, including financial technology (fintech),” said Sofyan Rizal as he opened the event. The Head of the Sharia Economics Study Program, Ali Rama PhD, said that this practitioner teaching activity aimed to introduce Sharia fintech to students. “This activity is important for students to learn about current developments in the financial and banking industry, especially financial technology or fintech. FEB UIN Jakarta together with AFSI will continue to strive to increase literacy about Sharia fintech among students and the general public,” said Ali Rama.

In his presentation, AFSI Executive Director Mahaning Riyana said that AFSI serves as a collaborative platform for the Sharia digital finance ecosystem in Indonesia. She also spoke specifically about Sharia Fintech in the Financial Sector Technology Innovation (ITSK) cluster. “ITSK is technology-based innovation that impacts products, activities, services, and business models in the digital financial ecosystem,” said Mahaning.

The event then continued with a discussion led by Dwi Nuraini Ichsan, lecturer of Sharia financial technology. (AC)
