Public Lecture and National Seminar of Management Study Program: Unlimited Creativity, Opportunities and Challenges in the Digital Era
Ciputat, October 3, 2024 – The Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta successfully held a Public Lecture and National Seminar entitled “Unlimited Creativity: Opportunities and Challenges in the Digital Era”. The activity, which was held in the Flat and Tilted Theater Room, 5th Floor, Campus Building 2 FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, presented leading speakers in their fields. This event was attended by first and fifth semester students, lecturers, and practitioners who were interested in understanding more about the role of creativity amidst the rapid development of digital technology.
The seminar was opened at 08.00 WIB with a registration session and continued with singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya and the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Hymn. The event was then officially opened with remarks from the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Yunia Silvia Sesunan, SE., MM., who emphasized the importance of creativity as the main factor in facing digital challenges. Following the remarks from the Head of the Management Study Program, Murdiyah Hayati, S.Kom., MM., who emphasized the relevance of the seminar topic to the challenges faced by students and the younger generation today.
The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Prof. Dr. Ibnu Qizam, SE., M.Sc., Ak., CA., in his remarks, highlighted the importance of innovation in facing changes in the digital era, especially for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). He also invited students to continue to hone their creativity and innovation as the key to success in the future.
This seminar presented keynote speaker Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, B.B.A., M.B.A., Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, who gave an interesting presentation on the importance of creativity in the tourism industry and the creative economy. In his speech, Sandiaga Uno explained how digitalization has opened up great opportunities for the creative economy sector in Indonesia, and how the younger generation can take advantage of these opportunities to create new innovations.
Ali Manshur, SE., ME., who represented Drs. Teten Masduki, Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia, also provided a perspective on the opportunities and challenges of MSMEs in the digital era. In his presentation, Ali Manshur said that digitalization provides broad opportunities for MSMEs to expand their markets and increase business efficiency. However, he also emphasized the importance of innovation in the use of information technology so that MSMEs can develop more optimally.
The event was even more lively with the appearance of saxophone musician Markov Sembel, who performed three popular songs, creating a more relaxed yet elegant atmosphere for all participants. This performance provided a short break before entering into more in-depth discussion sessions.
In the material session, this seminar presented Prof. Roy Sembel, Ir., MBA, Ph.D., CSA, CIB, CIIM, an academic and professional in the fields of economics and investment. Prof. Roy Sembel explained the concept of The W.I.S.D.O.M Way, a strategic method that helps businesses utilize creativity to survive and thrive in the digital era. Participants gained in-depth insight into how to build a resilient business with a creative and innovative approach.
The next session was filled by Trivet Sembel, CEO of VOLIX Group and Navvaros Entertainment, who provided insight into the important role of creativity in the media and entertainment industry. Trivet Sembel shared his personal experience on how he built a business in the entertainment world by combining local potential and digital technology to create global opportunities. He also emphasized that everyone has a unique story that can be a source of inspiration and creativity if managed well.
After the material session, the event was closed with a group photo of all speakers and participants and the presentation of plaques as appreciation to the speakers who had contributed to this event.
The seminar, which lasted until 12.00 WIB, succeeded in providing inspiration and motivation to all participants regarding the importance of creativity and innovation in facing the challenges of the digital era. This event is expected to broaden students' horizons and prepare them to become future leaders who are able to adapt and innovate amidst rapid changes. The FEB Management Study Program, through this event, demonstrated its commitment to equipping students with relevant skills and knowledge to succeed in an increasingly technology-based world of work.
