Session 3 of the International Student Research Camp, Sharia Economics Study Program Presents Lecturers from Erasmus University Rotterdam
Jakarta, November 25, 2025. The Sharia Economics Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah invited Malika Ouacha, PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands, to participate in the International Student Research Camp. The event, held in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the FEB Building on Jalan Ibnu Sina, was attended by 7th semester students who are currently working on their final projects.
Head of Administration of FEB, Imam Thobroni, representing the Dean of FEB, welcomed and thanked Malika for taking the time to attend the student research camp. “Welcome to FEB UIN Jakarta. Thank you, Malika, for coming and providing new insights to students, especially those in the Sharia Economics study program, about zakat and almsgiving in the Netherlands and the United States,” said Imam. In line with Imam, the head of the Sharia Economics study program, Ali Rama, said that this activity was the third session organized by the study program to help students complete their final projects. “This third session featured Malika from Erasmus University Rotterdam. The purpose of this activity is to encourage students to complete their final projects faster,” said Ali Rama.
In her presentation, Malika shared several ways to find ideas and compile them into interesting research. “Ideas can come from anywhere. From class, from the environment, global issues, journal articles, and others. We must write down those ideas,” said Malika. After the presentation, a discussion was held, moderated by Diamantin Rohadatul Aisy. Helmi, one of the participants, asked about the comparison of charitable giving behavior in the Netherlands and the United States. “I am researching the impact of charitable giving on poverty alleviation in Indonesia. How is charitable giving behavior in the Netherlands or the United States?” Helmi asked the speaker. The discussion was lively, revolving around the topics of zakat and charitable giving, as well as the research methodology to measure them. (AC)
