Ciputat, October 30, 2024 – The Sharia Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, in collaboration with the Sharia Economics Study Program Student Association (HMPS), held a Studium Generale entitled "Profit and Welfare: Blended Value in Social Entrepreneurship". This activity aims to provide practical insight and broaden students' understanding of the concept of social entrepreneurship, especially in the context of sharia economics.
This event was opened by the Dean of FEB UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Ibnu Qizam, S.E., M.Sc., who expressed his appreciation for the initiative of the Sharia Economics Study Program together with the Sharia Economics HMPS. In his remarks, Prof. Ibnu emphasized the importance of academic activities such as studium generale that involve practitioners. "Inviting practitioners to campus in the form of a studium generale program provides practical insight to students while expanding networks. This is a strategic step to bridge theoretical knowledge with real experience in the world of work," he said.
Presenting Drs. Faisal Badroem, MBA, as the main speaker, this activity discusses the theory and basic concepts of sociopreneurship or social entrepreneurship. Faisal, who is one of the founders and former Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (FEIS) UIN Jakarta, shared in-depth insights into sociopreneurship as an innovative approach that combines entrepreneurial spirit with social mission to create positive change in society through sustainable business solutions.
In his presentation, Faisal gave various successful examples of sociopreneurship that are relevant at the national and international levels, such as Muhammadiyah, Gojek, and Grameen Bank. "Social entrepreneurship, or sociopreneur, is a concept that combines entrepreneurial spirit with social mission. This is an innovative approach that aims to create positive change through sustainable business solutions," he explained. According to Faisal, the concept of social entrepreneurship is very relevant to Islamic values, which are also the basis for the birth of FEB UIN Jakarta. Social entrepreneurship reflects a commitment to sustainability and shared prosperity, which is in line with the principles of sharia economics.
This event was moderated by Dr. Ady Cahyadi, a lecturer in the Sharia Economics Study Program, who also guided the question and answer session. In the interactive discussion session, students from the Sharia Economics Study Program expressed their interest in studying social entrepreneurship while upholding Islamic principles. This activity not only enriches students' knowledge about social entrepreneurship but also opens up new opportunities for those who are interested in playing a role as social entrepreneurs. It is hoped that through this studium generale, students will not only gain a deep understanding of social entrepreneurship but will also be motivated to contribute to society in an innovative and sustainable way in accordance with the values of sharia economics.
