This activity took place on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 07.30 WIB until finished at Theater 2 FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The event was attended by BTN Syariah staff and students of the Islamic Economics Study Program who were taking the Introduction to Accounting course. The next event was a teaching practitioner activity with a resource person, Mr. Ide Kusuma Pribadi, S.T., M.M., he is the Deputy of Islamic Business Finance at BTN Syariah. He gave a brief explanation of the operational mechanisms of Islamic banks in Indonesia, with a focus on practices at BTN Syariah. He emphasized that the principles of transparency and trustworthiness are the main foundations in the financial management of Islamic banks, as well as being different from conventional banks that have been present in Indonesia for a long time.
In the material session, the resource person from BTN Syariah explained in detail the meaning of accounting and Islamic accounting, including the purpose of its application in the Islamic banking system. In addition, the general principles of Islamic accounting and its differences from conventional accounting were also discussed. This explanation is expected to open students' mindsets regarding the urgency of mastering basic accounting as a provision in the world of work, especially in the fields of Islamic finance and banking.
Students are also introduced to the accounting cycle, starting from the transaction recording stage, debit and credit processes, to the preparation of accurate and accountable financial reports. This explanation aims to open students' mindsets to understand the importance of mastering basic accounting, which is the main foundation when entering the world of work, especially in the Islamic banking sector.
Students welcomed this activity positively, considering that Islamic banking in Indonesia is still relatively new compared to conventional banking which has been present since the Dutch colonial era. Islamic banks began to develop in Indonesia in 2004, along with increasing public awareness of the importance of a financial system that is free of interest (riba) and in line with Islamic principles.
