The Islamic Economics Program Explores Strategic Collaboration with the Infaq Management Institute (LMI)

Ciputat, April 28, 2026 — The Islamic Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, officially initiated exploratory discussions for a strategic partnership with the Infaq Management Agency (LMI), a national-scale zakat collection agency headquartered in Surabaya.
The meeting took place on Tuesday afternoon, April 28, 2026, in the Meeting Room of the FEB Building, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Campus, Jalan Ibnu Sina. On this occasion, the Islamic Economics Study Program was represented directly by the Head of the Study Program, Ali Rama, Ph.D.

A delegation from the LMI Jakarta Office, consisting of Khoirul Nur Mustaqim (LMI Jakarta Regional Manager), Bayu Mahardika, and Iffa Nur Khofifah, was present with the mission of strengthening ties and exploring opportunities for institutional collaboration. Interestingly, the delegation also included Fadya Wildha, an active student in the Islamic Economics program who is currently undergoing a professional internship at LMI, serving as tangible evidence of the initial synergy between the world of education and zakat industry practitioners.

Implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education
This lively discussion focused on concrete efforts to implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Ali Rama, Ph.D., welcomed this collaborative initiative as a strategic step to bridge the gap between Islamic economics theory in the classroom and zakat management practices in the field.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to collaborate with LMI. Through this partnership, we aim to expand opportunities for our students to not only learn theoretically but also contribute directly through professional internships, joint research, and structured community service under the national zakat ecosystem managed by LMI,” said Ali Rama.
In addition to the internship program for students, both parties also discussed other collaboration opportunities, such as:
•    Practice-Based Curriculum Development: Aligning course materials with the current needs of the Islamic philanthropy management industry.
•    Collaborative Research: Synergistic research on the social and economic impacts of zakat empowerment programs.
•    Community Service: Economic empowerment-based mentoring activities for zakat recipients involving the academic community of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UIN Jakarta.

This exploratory initiative is expected to pave the way for the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the future, which will strengthen the position of the Sharia Economics Program at FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta as a center of excellence in Sharia economics education that is relevant to industry needs.
