To Enhance Accessibility at an Inclusive Campus, the Faculty of Economics and Business at UIN Jakarta Hosts a Visit from the Disability Services Research Team at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta
CIPUTAT, July 7, 2026 – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta hosted a benchmarking visit and sharing session by the Research Team on Academic Services for Students with Disabilities from the Faculty of Tarbiyah at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta on Tuesday (July 7). Funded through the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ 2026 MORA Air-Fund Research Program, this visit aimed to conduct an in-depth study and identify lessons learned regarding the management of resources and the commitment to providing accessible academic facilities for students with special needs.
The research team from UIN Surakarta—comprising M. Irfan Syaifuddin, Pratiwi Rahmah Hakim, and Okta Nurul Hidayati—was officially received in the Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at FEB. Their visit was warmly welcomed by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at FEB UIN Jakarta, Dr. Sofyan Rizal, M.Si., the Vice Dean for General Administration, Dr. Erika Amelia, M.Si., and accompanied by Dr. Ady Cahyadi, SE., M.Si., CRMP., a lecturer in the Islamic Economics Program. The meeting was interactive, with the main focus on discussing the practical implementation of providing academic facilities for students with disabilities within the faculty.
On this occasion, the Associate Dean for General Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Jakarta, Dr. Erika Amelia, M.Si., expressed the faculty’s commitment to building an equitable educational ecosystem.
“The Faculty of Economics and Business at UIN Jakarta is fully committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming academic environment for all students, including those with disabilities. We have integrated various disability-friendly facilities, such as special road markings in the form of guiding blocks for directional guidance, the provision of operational wheelchairs, and the design of accessible restrooms to facilitate students’ daily mobility,” said Erika.
Before holding in-depth discussions at the faculty level, the UIN Surakarta research team was first received by university officials led directly by Prof. Siti Nurul Azkiya, Ph.D., Chair of the Center for Students with Special Needs (CSSN) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. During the reception, Prof. Siti Nurul Azkiya was accompanied by the CSSN team as well as Reyhan, M.A., a visually impaired lecturer who is also active as an administrator at the campus’s disability services center.
To experience firsthand the implementation of inclusive facilities on-site, one member of the UIN Surakarta research team, M. Irfan Syaifuddin, had the opportunity to test the campus’s accessibility facilities. Irfan tried using a wheelchair to navigate the ramp located at the Harun Nasution Auditorium Building at UIN Jakarta. This field exercise provided a real-world perspective on both the challenges and the technical solutions implemented by UIN Jakarta in fulfilling the rights of people with disabilities to public facilities.
Through this visit, both institutions hope that the results of this collaborative research and the sharing session can serve as a strategic reference in formulating more inclusive academic policies within State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) throughout Indonesia, while also accelerating the realization of sustainable, disability-friendly campuses.
