Green Campus as Part of Eco-Theology
In his remarks, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Tholabi, emphasized the importance of preserving the campus environment to support the quality of education.
“We need to preserve the campus environment to create a comfortable and conducive academic atmosphere for the learning process. Moreover, this Green Campus program is part of the implementation of eco-theology as advocated by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, where caring for nature is a manifestation of the values of faith,” said Prof. Tholabi.
FEB’s Concrete Steps to Support UIN’s Green Campus Initiative
The program was presented directly by Dr. Ady Cahyadi, M.Si., a member of the FEB Green Campus Team. In his presentation, Dr. Ady explained a number of concrete steps that have been and are currently being implemented by FEB UIN Jakarta in support of the university’s Green Campus program, including:
• PBAK 2025 Green Action: A program to plant 1,000 trees, initiated during last year’s Academic and Student Life Orientation (PBAK).
• Plastic Waste Reduction: A requirement for students to bring reusable water bottles (tumblers), supported by the provision of 5 water purifier units in the faculty area.
• Digital Campaign: Massive education and outreach on eco-friendly initiatives through FEB’s official social media channels.
• Food Security & Greening: Utilization of productive land in the form of the FEB garden, which has successfully yielded guava and banana crops.
Collaboration with Ibnu Sina Residents
Rather than focusing solely on campus life, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UIN Jakarta has also reached out to residents living along Ibnu Sina Street to participate in this initiative. During the event, faculty representatives encouraged residents to work together to maintain environmental cleanliness, maintain drainage channels, and reduce waste.
This collaboration between the campus and the community is expected to mitigate flood risks, prevent the spread of disease, and create a residential and learning environment that is pleasant, healthy, and comfortable for everyone. (AC)
