UIN Jakarta Development Economics Program’s Studium General: An In-Depth Look at Sustainable Consumption and Production in Europe with Francesco Silva
SOUTH TANGERANG, September 30, 2026 – The Development Economics Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again successfully held an academic event titled “Studium General” on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The event, attended by hundreds of students, took place in the Theater Room on the 5th floor of the FEB Building, Jalan Ibnu Sina, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Campus.
This international academic event featured a prominent guest speaker, Francesco Silva, a young researcher and Research Intern at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) Indonesia, originally from Paris, France. The presentation and discussion were moderated by Dr. Arisman, a lecturer in the Development Economics Study Program.
The event was also attended by the leadership of the Development Economics Study Program, namely the Head of the Development Economics Study Program, Dr. Arief Fitrijanto, M.Si., the Program Secretary, Dr. Rr. Tini Anggraeni, as well as faculty members and hundreds of active students in the Development Economics Study Program.
In her remarks, the Secretary of the Development Economics Study Program, Dr. Rr. Tini Anggraeni, stated that this Studium General is part of an ongoing program specifically designed to bring in leading international practitioners and academics—not only from France but also from Vietnam and various other partner countries—to broaden students’ global perspectives.
As the keynote speaker, Francesco Silva delivered an in-depth presentation on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in Europe. In his presentation, he explored various key aspects ranging from the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG 12) and the European Green Deal to empirical challenges related to material footprints, the circular transition, and the critical debate between green growth and sufficiency in Europe.
The discussion session was highly interactive and enthusiastic, with students actively posing various critical questions to the speaker. The Studium General event concluded with a group photo session featuring the speaker, the program’s leadership, faculty members, and all attending students. (AC)
