UTM Malaysia Lecturers Invited to Become Visiting Lecturers in Management Study Program

Jakarta, October 17, 2025. The Management Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta successfully held a Visiting Lecturer event with the theme Innovation and Creativity in Entrepreneurship: Lessons from Malaysia on Friday, October 17, 2025 via an online Zoom meeting. The event featured Dr. Farah Akmar Anor Salim, Strategy and Quality Manager from the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM), as the keynote speaker. The event began at 1:00 p.m. WIB and was opened by Ms. Elvaretta Ignasia as the master of ceremonies who guided the proceedings.

The first speech was delivered by the Head of the Management Study Program, Murdiyah Hayati, M.M., followed by a speech from the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Ibnu Qizam, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA. In his speech, the dean expressed his appreciation for this visiting lecturer event. "We appreciate this visiting lecturer event that brings colleagues from Malaysia. This activity is very important to support the internationalization of FEB," said Prof. Qizam.

The main event was a presentation by Dr. Farah Akmar Anor Salim on the theme of Innovation and Creativity in Entrepreneurship: Lessons from Malaysia, moderated by Sucayono, S.E., M.Sc. In her presentation, Dr. Farah emphasized that creativity and innovation are two important things in the modern world of entrepreneurship, where creativity gives birth to new ideas and innovation turns them into real products or services. She also explained that the innovation process begins with finding problems, designing solutions, conducting trials, and developing products in a sustainable manner. Real-life examples were also presented with case studies in Malaysia, such as the use of TikTok by MSME players for promotion, the use of digital applications by farmers to monitor the weather, and the creativity of students who sell products online. In addition, Dr. Farah also explained various forms of innovation - ranging from product innovation, process innovation, to service innovation, as well as the importance of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.
